This site is part of the course Buddhism in the Himalayas, a class offered the Fall of 2019 at New College of Florida, and taught by Prof. Manuel Lopez. As part of the class, the students had to read the life of a Buddhist figure in the Himalayas (biography, autobiography, hagiography) and use StoryMapJS to map it out.
StoryMapJS is a digital tool created by the Knight Labs Project at Northwestern University and it allows people to tell stories on the web that highlight the locations of a series of events. The goal of the assignment was to use this tool not only to map out the life of an individual, but also to explore it using an interactive form of storytelling (images, videos, maps. We also wanted to use digital tools in order to transform traditional college assignments into a product that other people can see and use. Digital Humanities Librarian Cal Murgu also helped and collaborated in the design of this assignment as part of the Digital Scholarship Studio.
