Resources

If you are interested in learning more about the situation of nuns in Bhutan in particular, or Buddhist nuns, in general, here is a list of resources.

The inspiration for the project was Ani Tsultrim Wangmo’s book Nunneries of Bhutan, which documents the incredible growth of nunneries in the country over the last 40 years and helped us enormously during our efforts to understand the remarkable transformation of female monasticism in the country over the last few decades. Ani Wangmo generously allowed us to use her book as a resource for the creation of this website. She also gave us permission to share her book on the site as a resource to anyone interested on the history of Bhutan’s nunneries.
